Fasting Pregnancy Is it safe ?


 Ahead of the month of Ramadan , many women hesitate to run a full fasting because of worrying about the impact of dietary changes on the health of the baby. In fact , some studies show that fasting can actually have a positive impact for pregnant women during the mother is in good health and well-regulated diet and nutrition is maintained in balance .

Febri explained , changes in diet of three meals a day to twice a day often leaves expectant mothers worry for running fast . Concerns mother actually grounded because one study says , in some pregnant women who fasted at risk of having a baby weighing low .

Febri added , other studies have also found that fasting in the first month of pregnancy can lead to lower birth weight babies . However , this decrease is only about 40 grams so it is relatively small and does not have a major impact to the health of the fetus .
The doctor who is also one of the expert panel Lactamil Mama Care ( LMC ) explains that in pregnant women who fast generally will be changes in the chemical balance of the blood . However , these changes are not harmful to the mother and her baby .
" It is undeniable that the pregnant mother is experiencing hormonal changes . This affects the change of mood , appetite , and symptoms such as vomiting and so forth , " he said .
Pregnant women , said Febri , need to break the fast if found signs such as bleeding , contractions ( more than empak times within 1 hour ) , a decrease in fetal movement , vision memburam , tense muscles , excessive fatigue , and severe dizziness .
Therefore , pregnant women should make sure to get enough rest and keep away from stress . Always remember to ensure adequate intake of proper nutrients and energy during fasting .
Febri said , pregnant women generally have different nutritional needs of women in general . He suggested that pregnant women consume milk-based foods and less protein than twice as high . Also make sure adequate intake of nutrients while fasting at night with emphasis on fiber-rich foods and drink lots of water .
" Do not consume too much sugar during the meal because it can lead to insulin shock . Avoid cold water and caffeine consumption during fasting , " he concluded .
